Ocean Beach with my lovely little family...

Ellery's 1st day of preschool was last Thursday! We had been reading books about going to preschool and she was excited to go but kept saying "mommy stay for a lil bit?" In one of the books a mom brings cupcakes in for her daughter's birthday and on the way to school, Ellery asked me if she was going to get a cupcake. After telling her why that doesn't happen very often, a mom walks in with 2 stacks of cupcakes. With princess rings stuck in the frosting no less.
She didn't cry when I left that morning but I found myself fighting back the tears. The teacher said she had a rough time transitioning from one activity to the next, was mostly just observing the teachers and other children and didn't want anyone to touch her. Pretty much how I thought she'd be in the beginning.
It was probably the longest 4 1/2 hours of both of our lives. I could not wait until 12:30 arrived. But when I came to pick her up she was looking pretty comfortable with frosting on her face an a Jasmine ring in her hand. The second day however, she sobbed. Snot bubbles and all. It was hard leaving but I knew it had to be done. Then I bolted to the observation window until she calmed down. Here's hoping the drop off gets easier and she grows to love this place as much as I think she will...

I think she liked the truffle my mom gave her...
