Zach and Ellery spent 5 days in Milwaukee to see family and celebrate Dave and Kathy's 40th wedding anniversary. Sounds like they had a great time and brought back pictures to prove it.
Happy Anniversary D & K!!...
Dave, pinching their condo...
Ellery, loving life!
Zach said she was great on the airplane, even sitting behind him on one leg of their trip with her new friend she met at the airport. I was bummed to have missed all the WI adventures but relieved I didn't have to deal with my wild child during the 4 flights and hours of staying put. Dave and Kathy are both from WI and enjoyed getting together with family. Ellery enjoyed the 3 to 1 ratio and getting to spend some quality time with daddy...
It was the longest I've ever gone without my little Elle and I hate to say it but, I didn't miss her as much as I thought I would. Is that bad? It's just that Beck and I had so much fun, the days flew by. After the 4th night of her absence I was itching to pick them up at the airport and come to find out, she didn't miss me all that much either. The next morning I wanted to snuggle her in bed and she kept saying, "where's daddy?" I asked her if she missed me and she shook her head no. Then I asked her if she'd rather be home or at Gramma and Grampa's. You can guess her response. Lovely. Her time away from a little brother and big dog completely stripped away any patience she used to have for them which made for a real fun first day back. She was a little shit all day and after her third time-out I had had enough and told her I, too, wanted her to go back to Gramma and Grampa's. Then felt guilty about it and apologized. Day two at home was much better and my sweet girl was back... pretty much. While they were enjoying the sunset in Milwaukee, Beck and I were enjoying it from Solana Beach...

Cousin Jordan stayed with us Sunday night! Pool time and...
a little dance party. I'm trying to take advantage of these last few years before hanging with her aunt will be so un-cool...

Zoo day with the deMerlier's!...
Beck's 15 Month Checkup:
Height: 32 1/2", 76%
Weight: 25.5 lbs, 55%
Head: 49 1/2 cm, 90%
Beck says about 5 words, knows about 5 signs and is pretty good with animal sounds. You can find him getting dressed up in tutu's, high heels and headbands and then launching a football across the room. I can already tell he's got a good sense of humor. Mallary just gave him George's old set of golf clubs and I think the rest of us need to invest in some shin guards. This boy's got an an arm on him!
I came to pick up Beck from my moms and found them in the hammock...

Ellery has been asking what's in everything. The other day, each time she asked, I jotted down her question and here's what she was curious about that day: "What's in - water? skin? yogurt? rocks? air? colors?" Some not so easy to answer. She has moved up a level in swim, from a Pike to an Eel, has a new good friend at school, Sydney and is crazy about the musicians, Raffi and Laurie Berkner. We must hear "We are the dinosaurs" 40 times per day. Really. We had it on dvd and when we went to return it to the library, Elle found the cd version. No escaping the dinosaurs! Beck loves it too. Roaring and marching around like a dinosaur is big in this house.
Zach had to work yesterday (Sat) so the kids and I hit up the Zoo to check out the new Reptile Walk...
And she talked me into riding the train in Balboa Park. Turns out when Zach asked her what her favorite part of the day was, she answered "riding the train all by myself!" Miss Independent lately!...
But did more playing than root root rooting for the home team...
