Fun in the sun...
"Just yike sissy"...

We rented this RV and took off for the California Coast...
But our first stop was the Spring Festival at Ellery's new school...

What started out as this...
The first two nights we stayed at Refugio State Beach, Goleta...
It wouldn't be a Santa Barbara beach without the tar!...
We stopped to see the elephant seals in San Simeon...
Further north on Hwy 1...
Where we met up with the Lennons!...
While playing t-ball, Beck landed on a curb the day before we left. I think the scabbed up nose fits him perfectly. Whether its chasing a baseball or throwing a tantrum, he always gives a 110%...
Shana and Baby Raya...
My dad and Mary came down for a night in Montery and Santa Cruz. We loved having them with us and Zach was thrilled to have golfing buddies...

Sure we look happy here but things got ugly. While Zach went golfing and James went on a bike ride Shana and I packed up and headed for the beach. No small feat with 5 kids under 5. The wind was howling, the walk was far, the baby needed a nap and Marin insisted that she be carried which upset Beck. Shana and I has so much crap in our hands we had to stop multiple times to rest our arms. We finally get to the beach, it's so cold and windy the damn beach tent blows away. We eventually got everyone situated inside and Ellery says she wants to go back. Just thinking about the hike back made Shana crack open the one beer she brought which Raya kicked over. All the while Marin is overly concerned about the dead seagull near us. The baby's crying and the older kids are arguing about the few snacks we brought. Our goosebumps got bigger and so after 10 minutes at the beach, we put one foot in front of the other up the giant sand dune back to the campground. I'm laughing just thinking about Shana collapsing on the dune with a screaming child, her other arm full with a diaper bag and sand toys, saying "we could be an advertisement for birth control right now."
I know the dune doesn't look big but the ocean is a far way down. I swear...
Next Stop, Santa Cruz!...

We spent the next two nights at New Brighton State Beach...
Auntie Di came down from Sausalito!...
Papa got buried!...

As if hanging out at the beach with some of my favorite people on Mother's Day wasn't enough, Ellery surprised me with this extravagant bouquet. :) ...

The last night of our amazing trip. We were all sad to leave but are already talking about where the next year will take us...
Good morning Birthday Girl! Colorful pancakes and bacon by request...
She wanted her 5th birthday party at Funbelievable!
Beck and Bennett waiting for the ball drop...
Double fisted...
Preschool graduation...
Crossing the bridge!...

She's excited about kindergarten but wishing she could bring Mrs Judy along...
Ahhhh! Her first dance recital! I laughed. I cried. I loved it. And so did she! I wasn't sure she'd perform on the big stage with all eyes on her but she surprised us!...
Just love this sweet girl...
