Friends and Family

June started off with a bang.  My girlfriends (and their families) from up North came down for a long weekend.  It was so great to catch up with them and meet Baby Marin.  Ellery was in heaven to have 5 other kids to play with.  I was in heaven to have my gals close by.

There were 6 kids under 5 here and at one point Amy announced, "I think my ovaries are drying up".  It was crazy but crazy good.  These two bonded right away...

Avery, Shana, James and Marin...

Chris, Hailey, Amy and Christian...

Getting in touch with his feminine side...

4 of us ran a half marathon, (my first!) and my mom snapped this shot at mile 13.  The only reason we're smiling is because that damn finish line was in sight...

My biggest supporter!...

SeaWorld with the Lennon's...

Such cuties.  Even with Ellery's scraggly hair.  This picture however prompted me to give Elle her first haircut.  Just a trim but lookin' better...

He wants to do everything sissy does but downhill and backwards.  Sometimes this child scares me.  How many trips to the ER are in my future?...

The kids get so many tow-head comments I had to find out the meaning.  "Tow" is a German word for flax.  When families would make their own clothing they would soak the flax then run it through a bed of nails.  The fibers resembled blond hair.  Who knew?  Here's me and my tow-heads at the zoo...

Zach has been putting in some serious hours at work lately.  He's on a difficult, frustrating and stressful job that requires too much for one man to accomplish.  It sucks.  Hopefully it will all be over by October.  We don't see much of each other during the week but we've been really good about making date night a priority.  Last week, go cart racing...

Our view from dinner...

Big thank you's to my marvelous mom and the 2 best babysitters a mama could ask for!

Ellery's art station.  She knows Beck can't get to her artwork up here...

Good times at Grandma and Grandpa's in Solana Beach...

My wild man has had a wild week.  He had pink eye the first part of last week and now hand, foot and mouth.  Ick.  He's over the worst of it and things are looking up... for him at least.  Ellery came down with a pretty high fever yesterday afternoon (which is how Beck's started) and Zach woke up with pink eye this morning.  Which is all making for a wonderful start to Father's Day.  We may need to celebrate daddy next weekend.  Here's some pics of healthier times...

At Rian and Bennett's birthday party...

Grandma Wanda took these two to the Water Conservation Garden and the splash pad AND made a stop by the ice cream truck.  Great afternoon with her Grandma and her "bess fren fuh-eva"...

Last day of swim lessons at the Y...

Legoland with my peeps!..

"Let's get going!"...

"Let's get outta here!"  Oh my little Ellery...

"Bring it."...

Thanks for the tickets Mars.  Such a fun day!

So sorry you got hand, foot and mouth. My kids had it a few weeks ago and it was horrible. Ethan and Amelia had tons of sores in their mouth and Ethan could hardly walk with all the sores on his feet. Abigail just had the fever so hopefully Ellery will have that version.
